DIVING

One of the things I had to learn as a young man, perhaps the hard way,  was that I was never going to be a good athlete. At 120lb. soaking wet and fully clothed, football was not a possibility. At 5'7" basketball was equally difficult and at the age of 12, the problems with my eyes ensured poor hand eye coordination. I was extraordinarily competitive but I would have to channel my efforts toward things where I had a realistic chance of achieving success. Diving turned out to be one of those endeavors.

Here is the link to the whole story. Diver Down: The Diving  There is another book, Diver Down: A Sailing Saga but that is better seen from the sailing section.

Great Barrier Reef - 1993 and 2005
These photos were taken with a Nikonos 5 underwater camera using Kodak ASA64 for slides. Although a very high resolution scanner digitized the slides, the results are not perfection. Neither was the photographer for that matter. They are, however, very high resolution and will take some time to download. BTW, Art has taken exactly 1 class in marine biology. He got a 4.0 but will freely admit he has almost no experience identifying marine species and will gratefully accept any help he can get.
